My Collection
23rd June 2008
This is a sample of my collection, some of my favorite coins. Please excuse the scans some of them are not that great.
This is an Indian quarter eagle (2.50). This one is in au condition. What makes this coin interesting is the incused minting process, the image is actually cut down into the coin and the fields are as high as the relief. The Book value is $235.00
This is an 1835 Half Dime slabbed as MS-60 from pcgs, I love this design and it is quite a beauty with cartwheel luster. Original un-cleaned surfaces. The book value is $375.00
This is an 1875 seated liberty dime. Slabbed by pcgs as ms-62. This is a beautiful design when the mint actually cared about beauty. The book value is $200.00
War of the Satellites film 1854 with arrows half dime AU-55. This is the best example I have at this point now. Working on getting an unc for my collection. Book Value $160.00
1849 Half dollar, It shows signs of cleaning, but it it is a beautiful example. MS-60 grade, It has a huge die break through the right wing of the eagle and last “A” of America. Book value about $400.00 if it was un-cleaned it would be worth about $850.00.
1861 Quarter Dollar, Original surfaces, MS-60. Another nice example of a seated liberty type. Book Value $400.00
1831 Quarter Dollar AU-55. I believe it is original surfaces but not absolutely sure. Book Value $800.00
1856 Gold Dollar, Nice example, I believe it was mounted at one time. AU-50 grade, Book value about $190.00
This is a 179X Spanish milled dollar. This coin has been cut into quarters. This was common during the early days of the united states. Small currency was hard to find so to fill the gap they cut the coin, By us law you were allowed to cut one up to 8 times. 1/8 of a dollar was called a bit, this coin is a 2 bit coin. This coin is quite collectible, most of these were melted down and re-coined by the USA. Only a few examples survive. The value of this coin is very subjective but I believe it is about $60.00

This is a 1677 cob, made in Mexico during the Spanish colonial times. This piece was recovered from a sunken galleon. The major breaks in the coin are original from when it was made. These were very crude coins and no two are the same. Very rare and neat part of American history. When these coins made their way back to Spain they would be melted down and re-coined into proper Spanish milled dollars. The value is approx. $300- $400 dollars.
1736 Pillar dollar, This coin was recovered from a sunken galleon. Grade is AU I would say. It has great detail, It was made in the Mexico mint. Approximate value is $300.00
